Sixty Types of Fire Appliance

The terms Fire Engine and Fire Appliance are generic and refer to many types of vehicles, from frontline pumping appliances to special-purpose vehicles such as aerial platforms, rescue tenders, and various support vehicles. Below are images showing over 60 vehicle classifications operating within the UK Fire Service. Many of these machines have unique roles, whereas some are minor variations of others. For example, Small Fires Units, Brigade Response Units, and Targeted Response Vehicles all perform similar roles but have different names in various brigades.
