County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service covering an area of 939 square miles and a population of 630,000 people in the North East of England. The brigade was established in 1948 as Durham County Fire Brigade. In 1974, it incorporated the Borough of Darlington Fire Brigade to become County Durham and Darlington Fire Brigade, changing to a Fire and rescue Service in 2004.
The service currently operates 15 fire stations, eight of which are whole-time and seven of which are retained. During the 2023/24 reporting year, it responded to over 15,000 incidents.
