Essex County Fire & Rescue Service

Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) is the statutory fire and rescue service for Essex County in the east of England. The service is one of the largest ones in the country, providing fire coverage for over 1.7 million people. Established in 1948 as the Essex Fire Brigade, it operated from 65 fire stations. The brigade was among the early adopters of the title Fire & Rescue Service when it changed its name in 1985

The service operates 50 fire stations, 12 of which are staffed with full-time crews and 38 of which are retained stations. During the 2023/24 reporting year, the service responded to over 16,000 incidents.
