Scania is a Swedish manufacturer of commercial vehicles, formed in 1911 it is now owned by the Volkswagen Group. The company built its first Fire Appliance in 1912 but only entered the UK market in 1981 when it supplied a Turntable Ladder to the Grampian Fire Brigade. It started providing Water Tenders several years later and, over the last 25 years, has grown to become one of the two predominant suppliers to the UK Fire Service (the other being Volvo). Modern Scania appliances are built on the P-Series cab and chassis, which was introduced in 2004. As is common with most truck manufacturers, Scania does not build the bodywork for their Fire appliances; this is done by specialists such as such as Angloco, Emergency One or WH Bence.
