Scottish Fire & Rescue Service

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) is Scotland's statutory fire and rescue service. Established in 2013 through the merger of eight regional fire services. These were: Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service, Dumfries and Galloway Fire and Rescue Service, Fife Fire and Rescue Service, Grampian Fire and Rescue Service, Highlands and Islands Fire and Rescue Service Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service, Strathclyde Fire and Rescue and Tayside Fire and Rescue Service. Post merger it became the largest fire service in the UK, although the London Fire Brigade responds to more incidents each year.

The service operates 357 fire stations, of which 74 are crewed full-time, 240 are retained, and 43 are volunteer stations based in rural locations and on the many islands for which the service provides fire cover. During the 2023/24 reporting year, the service responded to 80,000 incidents, a significant reduction on previous years.
