South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service

South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service for the county of South Yorkshire. The brigade was formed in 1974 as part of an extensive local government reorganisation that created the county of South Yorkshire. Previously, fire cover for teh areas was provided by two brigades,  Rotherham County Fire Brigade and Sheffield Fire Brigade.

The service operates 21 fire stations, of which 17 are full-time (some supported by a day crewed or retained second appliance) and 4 are retained. During the 2023/24 reporting year, the service responded to over 17,000 incidents.
