Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service is the statutory fire and rescue service covering the county of Suffolk. It was formed in 1948 as the Suffolk & Ipswich Fire Service, before changing to Suffolk Fire Service in 1974 and becoming Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service in 2004. Suffolk has a population of 760,00 and covers 1,466 square miles, much of which is rural.

The service operates from 35 fire stations, of which 4 are wholetime crewed, 2 are day crewed, and 29 are retained stations. In 2024, the service responded to over 5,500 incidents.
